I love dressing in the same colour - it's probably the easiest way to dress in the morning and still look put together (and as if you've put in some effort). It also gives the illusion of a taller and slimmer you, which is great news for a petite girl. A grey winter look is chick and easier to carry, plus it serves as a perfect canvas to highlight a different coloured bag, statement necklace, or pair of shoes. Step 1: Pick out separates of the same hue in your closet. That includes tops, bottoms, coats, shoes, and accessories. You may be surprised to find items that you did not know how to wear and abandoned at the bottom of your closet, since this look requires mix-and-match, bring them out and give them a new life. (totally cost-effective!) Step 2: Choose different textures, lengths and shades. Textures like knits, leather and suede gives the look more sophistication. Match them with plainer items to create a contrast. Choose 2-3 textures to spice up the look, this is all about trial-and-error. Since the texture variation naturally creates visual colour difference, I like to keep the hue fairly similar because putting a light grey with a dark grey can break the continuity that a monochrome outfit is going for. Step 3: Accessorize an item or two in a different colour (optional) While it's perfectly fine to carry a grey bag as well, you can spice up the outfit with a colour/pattern pop. Your statement item will become even more eye-catching. Other than all black or white, you can style your favourite colour just in the same way - make sure to try it before summer comes because you get to wear so much more layers this season!
